Regular Season Round 7: Fenerbahce - Besiktas 84-80

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#4) and Besiktas (#10). Despite it looked like an easy game for Fenerbahce, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Guest Besiktas challenged much higher ranked Fenerbahce giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by four points 84-80. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Besiktas was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Greek point guard Kostas Sloukas (197-90) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 assists. French power forward Joffrey Lauvergne (210-91, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American-North Macedonian point guard Jordan Theodore (182-89, college: Seton Hall) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists and American forward James Michael McAdoo (206-93, college: UNC) added 24 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) in the effort for Besiktas. Five Fenerbahce and four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Besiktas' coach Dusko Ivanovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fenerbahce (6-1) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Besiktas lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with five games lost. Fenerbahce will face Tofas (#4) in Bursa in the next round. Besiktas will play at home against Bursaspor (#7) and hope to win that game.
