Regular Season Round 6: Barreirense - CAB Madeira 105-100

Barreirense can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked CAB Madeira (2-4) 105-100 on Sunday. Strangely CAB Madeira outrebounded Barreirense 44-32 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Barreirense looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by CAB Madeira helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Kendall Jacks (193, college: Wayne St., NE) who scored 28 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Diogo Peixe (190-0) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian forward Arvydas Gydra (206-89) who recorded 27 points and 9 rebounds and American guard George Beamon (193-91, college: Manhattan) added 26 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. CAB Madeira's coach Joao Silva rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Barreirense (1-5) left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with Ovarense. CAB Madeira at the other side dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with Lusitania and Esgueira. Barreirense is looking forward to face higher ranked Oliveirense (#4) in Oliveira in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CAB Madeira will play at home against Ovarense (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
