Regular Season Round 8: Bernau - Itzehoe 88-96

Date: November 10, 2019
Very significant was Itzehoe's (#5) 96-88 road victory against one of their biggest challengers SSV Lok Bernau in North. They outrebounded SSV Lok Bernau 38-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. SSV Lok Bernau was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American power forward Chris Hooper (198-91, college: St.Francis, NY) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Croatian-Bosnian forward Marko Boksic (201-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) supported him with 24 points. Itzehoe's coach Patrick Elzie allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 21 points and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) by American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valpo) did not help to save the game for SSV Lok Bernau. Guard Alexander Blessig (188-93, college: Rollins, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Four SSV Lok Bernau players scored in double figures. Itzehoe have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Muenster. SSV Lok Bernau at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Rist Wedel and Duesseldorf. Itzehoe will play against league's second-placed SG Schwelmer Baskets at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. SSV Lok Bernau will play against Duesseldorf and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
