Regular Season Round 13: Suduva-Mantinga - Telsiai 87-78

Second defeat of league's leader Telsiai (10-2) against third ranked Suduva-Mantinga (10-2) 87-78 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Telsiai. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Telsiai 31-20 including 21 on the defensive glass. Suduva-Mantinga looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Aurimas Kieza (199-82, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Tomas Galeckas (183-94) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. Suduva-Mantinga's coach Povilas Sakinis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Ovidijus Kaminskis (195-91) answered with 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Gytis Sirutavicius (195-83) added 12 points in the effort for Telsiai. Suduva-Mantinga have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Silute and Telsiai. Telsiai will play next round against Vytis trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Suduva-Mantinga will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Silute on the road.
