Regular Season Round 11: Jena - Bayer Giants 95-68
Date: November 16, 2019
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Bayer Giants (7-4) were crushed on the road by fourth ranked Science City Jena (9-2) 95-68 on Saturday. Science City Jena had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized American point guard Brad Loesing (182-89, college: Wofford) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists. American center Alex Herrera (206-92, college: Fort Lewis, agency: Two Points) helped adding 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Science City Jena players scored in double figures. American forward Nick Hornsby (201-95, college: Sacramento St.) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Colter Lasher (201-94, college: Houston Baptist) scored 12 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Science City Jena. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Bremerhaven. Newly promoted Bayer Giants keep the sixth position with four games lost. Science City Jena will face Walter Tigers (#7) in Tuebingen in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bayer Giants will play on the road against Gladiators in Trier and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
