There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked BG Goettingen (2-6) defeated on the road 13th ranked Hamburg (1-6) 93-87 on Saturday. BG Goettingen made 29-of-34 free shots (85.3 percent) during the game. Hamburg was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Dylan Osetkowski (206-96, college: Texas) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and the other American import forward Terry Allen (203-93, college: Richmond) who added 18 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Dutch guard Yannick Franke (194-96) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Mexican guard Jorge Gutierrez (191-88, college: California) scored 16 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Hamburg players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. BG Goettingen moved-up to fourteenth place. Hamburg lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixteenth position with six games lost. BG Goettingen will face higher ranked Giessen 46ers (#12) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hamburg will play against ratiopharm Ulm (#13) and hope to win that game.
