Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Ovarense (1-6) lost to tenth ranked CAB Madeira (3-4) in Funchal 76-81 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for American guard George Beamon (193-91, college: Manhattan) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Bakari Copeland (198-95, college: UMES) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Chris Davenport (203-94, college: N.Florida) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Pedro Oliveira (180-0) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Ovarense in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. CAB Madeira moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Ovarense dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. They share it with Barreirense. CAB Madeira will meet higher ranked Oliveirense (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ovarense will play against Maia Basket (#8) and hope to win that game.
