Regular Season Round 9: Leverkusen 2 - Recklinghausen 69-66

A very interesting game took place in Leverkusen. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Recklinghausen (6-6) to seventh ranked Leverkusen 2 (7-5) 69-66 in the fight for the sixth place. It was a good game for Goetz Twiehoff (198-85) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Center Benjamin Nick (206-97, college: Whitworth) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Leverkusen 2's coach Matt Watson used entire bench in such tough game. Guard Christoph Bruns (180-87) answered with 21 points and point guard Niklas Meesmann (186-98) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Recklinghausen. Leverkusen 2 moved-up to sixth place in West. Recklinghausen at the other side dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Leverkusen 2's next round opponent will be Hagen BG (#11) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Recklinghausen will play against the league's second-placed Ibbenbueren (#2) and hope to win that game.
