Regular Season Round 6: Gemlik - Duzce Bld. 79-80

Bottom-ranked Gemlik (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 80-79 loss to thirteenth ranked Duzce Belediye (2-4) in Bursa on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Gemlik's 26. The best player for the winners was guard Eray Aydogan (185-0) who scored 23 points and 7 assists. American forward Trey Porter (208-96, college: Nevada) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Four Duzce Belediye players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) who recorded 27 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and his fellow American import forward Gary Johnson (198-88, college: Texas) added 31 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Duzce Belediye maintains thirteenth position with 2-4 record. Newly promoted Gemlik still closes the standings with six games lost. Duzce Belediye will face higher ranked Akhisar Bld (#9) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gemlik will play against Merkezefendi (#12) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
