The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Wolmirstedt as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Wolmirstedt smashed 3rd placed Goetting.ASC at home 74-51. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Goetting.ASC. It was a key game for the top position in North. They outrebounded Goetting.ASC 38-27 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Wolmirstedt looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Philipp Lieser (194-89, college: Cent.Washington) stepped up and scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and British forward Joseph Hart (194-93) chipped in 16 points. The best for the losing side was swingman Nick Boakye (197-95) with 9 points and 7 rebounds and American center Matthew Husek (211, college: Holy Cross, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wolmirstedt have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Eimsbuetteler. Goetting.ASC at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Aschersleben and Neustadt TSV. Goetting.ASC will play next round against Weser Baskets trying to get back on the winning streak. Wolmirstedt will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Bramsche TuS on the road.
