Regular Season Round 8: Bandirma - Gaziantep 99-72

Date: November 16, 2019
Very expected game in Balikesir where 10th ranked Gaziantep (2-6) was crushed by fifth ranked Bandirma (6-2) 99-72 on Saturday. Bandirma dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Gaziantep's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Gaziantep was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American Omar Prewitt (201-94, college: William & Mary) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Jaime Smith (190-89, college: Al.-Huntsville, agency: Wasserman) who added 16 points, 5 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Four Bandirma players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Ismail-Cem Ulusoy (183-96, agency: Agency) scored 9 points and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bandirma have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tofas. Loser Gaziantep dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. Bandirma will face Turk Telekom (#12) in Ankara in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gaziantep will play at home against Buyukcekmece and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
