Regular Season Round 9: Crailsheim 2 - Karlsruhe SC 51-77

There was no surprise in Crailsheim where 3rd placed HAKRO Merlins II (5-4) was outplayed by leader Karlsruhe SC (9-0) 77-51 on Saturday. Karlsruhe SC dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to HAKRO Merlins II's 22. They outrebounded HAKRO Merlins II 49-37 including 36 on the defensive glass. Center Eyke Prahst (209-97) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and American-Ghanian guard Bright Mensah (193-92, college: William Pater.) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Trevon Evans (183-95, college: Sioux Falls) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Croatian-Bosnian power forward Sandro Antunovic (207-98) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Karlsruhe SC. They maintain first place in South-West with 9-0 record. Loser HAKRO Merlins II dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Karlsruhe SC will face Giessen Pointers (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. HAKRO Merlins II will play against BBU 01 Ulm and hope to win that game.
