Regular Season Round 8: Darussafaka - Afyon 68-72

An interesting game took place in Istanbul where 8th ranked Darussafaka (4-4) was upset on its own court by eleventh ranked Afyon Bld (3-5) 72-68 on Sunday. Strangely Darussafaka outrebounded Afyon Bld 42-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Nigerian power forward Talib Zanna (206-90, college: Pittsburgh) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. American point guard Jordon Crawford (168-90, college: Bowling Green) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. International guard Sinan Guler (192-83, college: Carroll, MT) produced 16 points and 4 assists and the former international point guard Kartal Ozmizrak (189-95, agency: BeoBasket) added 7 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Afyon Bld moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Darussafaka dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Bursaspor. Afyon Bld will meet at home higher ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Darussafaka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Fenerbahce.
