Regular Season Round 5: Trier YG - Koeln RS 36-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked RheinStars Koeln's (2-3) road victory over bottom-ranked YG Trier (0-5) 84-36 on Sunday. RheinStars Koeln dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to YG Trier's 22. RheinStars Koeln forced 38 YG Trier turnovers and outrebounded them 45-23 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Roni Sijarina (203-1) stepped up and scored 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Moritz Knobloch (190-1) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five RheinStars Koeln players scored in double figures. Point guard Nelson Da-Costa (185-1) responded with 13 points and 4 steals and David Mueller (202-1) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. RheinStars Koeln maintains fifth place in B South-West with 2-3 record. Newly promoted YG Trier still closes the standings with five games lost. RheinStars Koeln will face higher ranked Heidelberg U19 (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. YG Trier will play against the league's leader Sudhessen U19 in Darmstad and hopes to get finally their first victory.
