Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Arel Univ (3-5) outplayed bottom-ranked Afyon (0-8) in Afyonkarahisar 121-68 on Sunday. Arel Univ dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Afyon's 54. Arel Univ forced 26 Afyon turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Afyon's players. Cenk Aydin (-2) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Selahattin Yalcin (-1) contributed with 29 points for the winners. Five Arel Univ players scored in double figures. Furkan Ozcan (-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists and Veli Yildiz (-2) added 21 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Afyon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Arel Univ moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Gelisim Koleji and Gaziantep. Loser Afyon still closes the standings with eight games lost. Arel Univ will face higher ranked Turk Telekom (#3) in Ankara in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Afyon will play on the road against the league's leader Fenerbahce (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
