There was a minor upset in Balikesir where higher ranked Bandirma Kir. (3-3) was defeated by twelfth ranked Merkezefendi (3-3) 82-77 on Sunday. Merkezefendi outrebounded Bandirma Kir. 43-32 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bandirma Kir. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Jamaican center Jerome Jordan (215-86, college: Tulsa) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Ukrainian Olexandr Mishula (192-92) chipped in 21 points. Merkezefendi's coach Sahin Atesdagli used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Eray Akyuz (187-0) who recorded 23 points and center Sadik Kabaca (208-0) added 20 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Merkezefendi moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Bandirma Kir. Merkezefendi will face bottom-ranked Gemlik (#16) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
