Regular Season Round 6: Cukurova - Fenerbahce 59-83

KBSL top team - Fenerbahce (6-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Cukurova (1-5) in Mersin 83-59. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Cukurova's 26. They outrebounded Cukurova 43-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Elizabeth Williams (190-93, college: Duke) notched 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and international point guard Olcay Cakir-Turgut (182-93) supported her with 10 points and 7 assists. Fenerbahce's coach Victor Lapena felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by American center Morgan Tuck (188-94, college: Connecticut) did not help to save the game for Cukurova. Belarusian-American point guard Alex Bentley (170-90, college: Penn St.) added 15 points and 7 assists. Fenerbahce have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-0 record. Loser Cukurova dropped to the twelfth place with five games lost. Fenerbahce will meet at home bottom-ranked Canik Belediye (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Cukurova will play against Izmit and hope to win that game.
