Regular Season Round 10: Karlsruhe SC - Giessen 103-85

Very expected game when 7th ranked Giessen Pointers (5-5) were defeated on the road by top-ranked Karlsruhe SC (10-0) 103-85 on Saturday. Karlsruhe SC forced 20 Giessen Pointers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Rouven Roessler (198-80) fired 29 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Croatian center Denis Vrsaljko (209-82) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Point guard Lucas Mayer (183-99) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American forward Tyrell Sturdivant (201-95, college: Stony Brook) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Giessen Pointers' coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Karlsruhe SC have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South-West with 10-0 record. Loser Giessen Pointers dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. Karlsruhe SC will face Tuebingen II (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Giessen Pointers will play against BBU 01 Ulm (#11) and hope to win that game.
