Regular Season Round 7: Sibiu - Timisoara 100-96 OT

Timisoara (#7) forced the game against Sibiu (#3) into an overtime, but lost by four points 96-100 on Saturday night. Timisoara was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 12-16s. Sibiu dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Timisoara's 36 and made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Timisoara 40-29 including 25 on the defensive glass. Sibiu looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American-German forward Isaiah Philmore (203-89, college: Xavier) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Randal Falker (201-85, college: SIU) helped adding 15 points and 14 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Troy Franklin (183-89, college: Coppin St.) responded with 21 points and 5 assists and Serbian swingman Adam Mirkovic (199-91) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Timisoara players scored in double figures. Sibiu maintains third place in Nationala with 4-3 record having five points less than leader Cluj Napoca. Timisoara at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Sibiu will face Craiova (#4) at home in the next round. Timisoara will play against Pitesti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
