Regular Season Round 10: Regnitztal - Schwabing 67-80

There was an upset when higher ranked Regnitztal (5-5) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Schwabing (4-5) 80-67 on Saturday. Schwabing dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Regnitztal's 36. Center Bent Leuchten (212-2) fired 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) for the winners. American power forward Nick Freer (198-85, college: GVSU) chipped in 14 points. Four Schwabing players scored in double figures. Center Leo Saffer (210-0) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and Brandon Tischler (198-0) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Schwabing have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place in South-East, which they share with Herzogenaurach and FC Bayern III. Newly promoted Regnitztal dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Schwabing will face higher ranked Vilsbiburg (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Regnitztal will play against Topstar in Diedorf and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
