Regular Season Round 6: Botas - Izmit 65-78

Everything could happen in Adana at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Izmit and 8th ranked Botas had identical 2-3 record. But Botas was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Izmit 78-65. The best player for the winners was American guard Courtney Williams (173-94, college: S.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Gizem Yavuz (170-88) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists. Four Izmit players scored in double figures. Izmit's coach Erkan Metin allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Russian forward Marina Bas (194-85) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Busra Akbas (174-95) added 12 points and 6 assists respectively. Izmit (3-3) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hatay. Botas at the other side dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Izmit's next round opponent will be Cukurova (#12) in Mersin where they are favorite. Botas will play on the road against Kayseri and hope to win that game.
