Regular Season Round 9: Halle - Osnabrueck SC 62-59

The most exciting game of round 9 in the DBBL took place in Halle. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Osnabrueck SC (4-4) to ninth ranked SV Halle Lions (3-6) 62-59 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Osnabrueck SC. The best player for the winners was American guard Cori Coleman (173-93, college: Cleveland St.) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Christin Mercer (186, college: Jacksonville) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jenny Strozyk (165-0) who recorded 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Brittany Carter (183-93, college: Illinois) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. SV Halle Lions moved-up to eighth place. Osnabrueck SC at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Donau-Ries. SV Halle Lions are looking forward to face higher ranked XCYDE Angels Noerdlingen (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Osnabrueck SC will play against BasCats Heidelberg and is hoping to win this game.
