We should mention about the upset which took place in Heidelberg, where higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (8-4) lost at home to twelfth ranked Schalke (4-7) 67-79. The winners were led by American point guard Shavar Newkirk (183-96, college: St.Joseph's) who scored that evening 16 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and the other American import guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Five Schalke players scored in double figures. Even 9 points and 7 rebounds by Serbian center Armin Trtovac (210-97) did not help to save the game for MLP Academics Heidelberg. American swingman Shyron Ely (193-87, college: Evansville, agency: Slash Sports) added 9 points and 5 assists. MLP Academics Heidelberg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Schalke moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Rostock and Karlsruhe PS. MLP Academics Heidelberg at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Schalke's next round opponent will be higher ranked Uni Baskets (#9) in Paderborn and it may be quite challenging game. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play on the road against Phoenix Hagen (#17) and hope to win that game.
