Regular Season Round 9: Tesvikiye - Tofas 74-78

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Tofas (8-1) beat on the road 5th ranked Tesvikiye (4-5) 78-74 on Sunday. They outrebounded Tesvikiye 48-36 including 17 on the offensive glass. Tesvikiye was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Omer Yavas (203-1) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds for the winners and Batin Tuna (197-3) chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds. Four Tofas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Ekrem Gulay with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and Ege Eskinazi scored 11 points and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tofas. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce and TAC NEF. Loser Tesvikiye keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Tofas will face Arel Univ (#9) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tesvikiye will play at home against Banvit (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
