Regular Season Round 11: Horsholm - Vaerlose 76-75 OT

Sixth-ranked Vaerlose (2-6) was very close to win a game against leader Horsholm (10-0) on Wednesday. Horsholm managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vaerlose won fourth quarter 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Vaerlose used huge pressure winning it 18-12 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-10. American forward Alyssa Rader (188-97, college: S.Florida) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Sidney Rielly (183-95, college: Portland St.) contributed with 24 points for the winners. International swingman Frida Formann (179-1) answered with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and international center Julianna Okosun (194-1) added 9 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Vaerlose. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Horsholm have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-0 record. Vaerlose lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Horsholm will face league's second-placed Amager in Kastrup in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vaerlose will play at home against Aabyhoj (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
