Regular Season Round 11: Schwabing - Vilsbiburg 104-93

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Vilsbiburg (5-6) lost on the road to ninth ranked Schwabing (5-5) 104-93 on Saturday. Schwabing outrebounded Vilsbiburg 39-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Vilsbiburg's players. Vilsbiburg was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Bent Leuchten (212-2) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American power forward Nick Freer (198-85, college: GVSU) contributed with 21 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Schwabing players scored in double figures. Czech center Lubos Novy (204-91) answered with 31 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and American swingman Kendall Stafford (193-97, college: N.Alabama) added 22 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Vilsbiburg. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Schwabing have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place in South-East, which they share with FC Bayern III. Loser Vilsbiburg dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Schwabing will face Treuchtlingen (#9) in Treutchlingen in the next round. Vilsbiburg will play at home against Topstar and hope to win that game.
