Regular Season Round 9: Rivne - Lutsk Univ. 83-70

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Rivne as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Rivne defeated 5th ranked Lutsk Univ. at home 83-70. It looked good early as Lutsk Univ. took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rivne had a 26-12 second period charge getting the lead and Lutsk Univ. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-83. Rivne forced 19 Lutsk Univ. turnovers. Forward Yevgen Koroviyakov (199-88) nailed 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Dmytro Tymoshchuk accounted for 18 points and 4 steals. Guard Volodymyr Kotsko (190-97) came up with 24 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Denys Tiutiunyk (195-92) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Lutsk Univ. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rivne (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Lutsk Univ. at the other side dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. Lutsk Univ. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Rivne will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Lutsk Univ. at home.
