Regular Season Round 10: Klosterneuburg - Vienna 89-69

Very predictable result in Klosterneuburg where third ranked Dukes (8-2) smashed 8th ranked Hallmann (2-8) 89-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Dukes. Hallmann managed to win fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dukes dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Hallmann's 28. They outrebounded Hallmann 33-20 including 22 on the defensive glass. Dukes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hallmann's players. The former international forward Maximilian Hopfgartner (206-92, college: John Brown, agency: Dynamics Global Management) fired 24 points for the winners. Nigerian-American forward Ami Lakoju (206-95, college: UCSB) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Dukes' coach Werner Sallomon used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Luka Gvozden (184-93) produced 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Israeli center Anton Shoutvin (206-89) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dukes moved-up to second place, which they share with Gmunden. Loser Hallmann keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with UBSC Graz. Dukes will meet Arkadia Lions (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Hallmann will play against Raiffeisen Flyers Wels and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
