Regular Season Round 8: Guifoes S.C. - Carnide 64-62

A very interesting game took place in Guifoes. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked Carnide (3-5) to tenth ranked G.S.C. (2-6) 64-62 on Sunday evening. Strangely Carnide outrebounded G.S.C. 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Morgan Batey (178-94, college: Vanderbilt) who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. International Joana Cruz (176-92) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four G.S.C. players scored in double figures. American guard Ivory Crawford (178-92, college: Illinois) produced 21 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Kayla Gordon (183-95, college: Jacksonville) added 7 points and 22 rebounds respectively for the guests. Newly promoted G.S.C. maintains tenth position with 2-6 record. Carnide at the other side keeps the ninth place with five games lost. G.S.C.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Olivais (#3) in Coimbra and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
