Regular Season Round 9: Merkezefendi - Fethiye 89-78

Top ranked Fethiye (7-2) recorded its second loss on the court of twelfth ranked Merkezefendi on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Merkezefendi 89-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Fethiye. They outrebounded Fethiye 40-22 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Merkezefendi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Erkin Senel (191-99) who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Gokhan Yazicioglu (200-90) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Erick Neal (178-95, college: UT Arlington) who recorded 16 points and 4 assists and point guard Canberk Cevit (183-97) added 18 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Merkezefendi (4-5) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Yalova Bld. Fethiye at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Petkim. Merkezefendi is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Ankara B. (#16) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fethiye will play against Bornova Bld (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
