Regular Season Round 9: V.Knasiaus KM - Sostines 80-55

The game between Top Four teams took place in Klaipeda. Leader host V.Knasiaus KM (9-0) smashed 4th placed Sostines (5-5) 80-55. The game was mostly controlled by V.Knasiaus KM. Sostines was better in third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sostines to just 1 points in first quarter and to 12 points in first half. V.Knasiaus KM dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Sostines' 28. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Forward Justas Maceikis (198-2) nailed 6 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and forward Martynas Pronskus (192-2) accounted for 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four V.Knasiaus KM players scored in double figures. V.Knasiaus KM's coach Gytis Krugelevicius felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Edvin Volodkovic (-2) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 18 rebounds and Deimantas Valavicius (-2) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Sostines in the defeat. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for V.Knasiaus KM. They maintain first place with 9-0 record. Sostines lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. V.Knasiaus KM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sostines' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Vilniaus to the arena Vilniaus KM II.
