Regular Season Round 9: Zalgiris II - Siauliu 77-71

There was an upset in Kaunas where higher ranked Siauliu (4-4) was defeated by twelfth ranked Zalgiris II (1-7) 77-71 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-71. Zalgiris II forced 22 Siauliu turnovers and outrebounded them 43-27 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Matas Masiliunas (179-2) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 assists for the winners and swingman Paulius Dembinskas (195-2) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Domas Uosis (186-2) with 26 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Lukas Uosis (188-2) scored 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris II left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Siauliu keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Zalgiris II will face Kretingos SM (#9) in Kretinga in the next round.
