Regular Season Round 9: Mamak - Gemlik 93-99

We should mention about the upset which took place in Mamak, where higher ranked Mamak (5-4) lost at home to fourteenth ranked Gemlik (3-6) 93-99. They made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Gemlik outrebounded Mamak 42-21 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) nailed a triple-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Gary Johnson (198-88, college: Texas) accounted for 28 points and 12 rebounds. Four Gemlik players scored in double figures. American point guard Ricky Tarrant (188-93, college: Memphis) came up with 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Lotanna Nwogbo (203-93, college: Longwood) added 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Mamak in the defeat. Gemlik have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Duzce Bld. Mamak at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Gemlik's next round opponent will be higher ranked Bandirma Kir. (#4) in Balikesir and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mamak will play on the road against Akhisar Bld and hope to win that game.
