Regular Season Round 12: Triglav - Celje 58-72

Date: December 6, 2019
The game between Top Four teams took place in Kranj. 3rd ranked host Triglav (6-4) lost to top-ranked Celje (11-0) 72-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Triglav. The game was mostly controlled by Celje. Triglav was better in second period 14-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Triglav 49-36 including 34 on the defensive glass. Celje brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The winners were led by Portuguese-Bulgarian center Maria Kostourkova (193-97, college: WSU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Andreona Keys (178-95, college: Purdue) supported her with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Keys is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Celje's coach Damir Grgic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds by American forward Alexis Burke (180-92, college: Rutgers) did not help to save the game for Triglav. Point guard Ula Ude (175-3) added 16 points. Celje have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-0 record. Triglav at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Grosbasket and Ledita D.. Celje will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Triglav will play on the road against Maribor and hopes to get back on the winning track.
