Bottom-ranked Hamburg managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of six consecutive losses on Friday night. This time newly promoted Hamburg edged ninth-ranked Braunschweig 97-94. The best player for the winners was Dutch guard Yannick Franke (194-96) who scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. Mexican guard Jorge Gutierrez (191-88, college: California) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. International Karim Jallow (198-97) produced 19 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American power forward Scott Eatherton (206-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) added 18 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hamburg (2-8) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Goettingen. Braunschweig lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Hamburg will meet at home higher ranked ALBA Berlin (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
