Regular Season Round 12: Crailsheim 2 - Giessen 103-79

There was no surprise in Crailsheim where 9th ranked Giessen Pointers (5-7) were outplayed by fifth ranked HAKRO Merlins II (7-5) 103-79 on Saturday. HAKRO Merlins II made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Giessen Pointers' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Trevon Evans (183-95, college: Sioux Falls) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 5 assists and Croatian-Bosnian power forward Sandro Antunovic (207-98) who added 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four HAKRO Merlins II players scored in double figures. HAKRO Merlins II's coach Marko Stankovic felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Tyrell Sturdivant (201-95, college: Stony Brook) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Lucas Mayer (183-99) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. HAKRO Merlins II moved-up to fourth place in South-West, which they share with Fellbach. Giessen Pointers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. HAKRO Merlins II will face Tuebingen II (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Giessen Pointers will play against Fellbach (#4) and hope to win that game.
