Regular Season Round 14: Dzukija - P.Zvaigzdes 74-75

A very interesting game took place in Alytus. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 9th ranked Dzukija (3-9) to seventh ranked P.Zvaigzdes (5-8) 75-74 on Sunday evening. It looked good early as Dzukija took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then P.Zvaigzdes had a 21-19 second period charge getting the lead and Dzukija was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-75. Forward Paulius Petrilevicius (200-91, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 18 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Arvydas Siksnius (196-87, college: Weatherford JC) supported him with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Even 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American point guard Chauncey Collins (183-95, college: TCU, agency: Alti Sport) did not help to save the game for Dzukija. The former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. P.Zvaigzdes maintains seventh position with 5-8 record. Dzukija at the other side keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. P.Zvaigzdes' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Rytas in Vilnius and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Dzukija will play at home against Lietkabelis (#4) and hope to win that game.
