There was an upset when higher ranked Duzce Bld (6-5) was smashed on the road by fourteenth ranked Mersin Uni (3-8) 95-62 on Sunday. Mersin Uni shot 69.1 percent from the field. Mersin Uni outrebounded Duzce Bld 49-31 including a 44-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Duzce Bld's players. Quite impressive performance for American forward Dekeiya Cohen (188-96, college: Baylor, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). International center Ilayda Guner (186-99) contributed with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Mersin Uni players scored in double figures. Power forward Betul Gulec (183-97) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Rana Ucar (172-2) added 19 points and 4 steals in the effort for Duzce Bld. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mersin Uni moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Urla BLD. Newly promoted Duzce Bld dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Mersin Uni will face bottom-ranked Yalova Vip (#16) on the road in the next round.
