Regular Season Round 7: Jena - Essen Ruhr 113-75

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Ruhr (0-7) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked SC Jena (3-4) 113-75 on Sunday. SC Jena dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ruhr's 34. SC Jena forced 29 Ruhr turnovers and outrebounded them 47-24 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Ruhr was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Vincent Hofmann (204-1, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Serbian point guard Vuk Radojicic (185-1) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 7 steals. Lennard Kaprolat (187-2) produced 15 points and 4 assists and Luca Michels (183-2) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five SC Jena and four Ruhr players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SC Jena maintains sixth place in A North with 3-4 record. Ruhr lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. SC Jena will face league's leader ALBA Berlin at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ruhr will play against AB Baskets (#4) in Berlin and hopes to get finally their first victory.
