Regular Season Round 9: Marmatiei - Medias 67-83

Very expected game when 8th ranked Marmatiei (1-7) was defeated at home by second ranked Medias (7-2) 83-67 on Sunday. Medias outrebounded Marmatiei 44-23 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international Titus Nicoara (203-88, agency: Interperformances) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Octavian Calota (185-84) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Medias players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward James Harrison (203-96, college: ETSU) with 20 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Corey Henderson (193-95, college: Tulsa) scored 8 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Medias maintains second place in Nationala with 7-2 record having just two points less than leader Cluj Napoca. Loser Marmatiei keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Medias will face Miercurea Ciuc (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Marmatiei will play against Focsani and hope to win that game.
