Regular Season Round 7: Berlin AB Bsk - Quakenbrueck 86-83

A very interesting game took place in Berlin. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Young Dragons (1-6) to fifth ranked AB Baskets (3-3) 86-83 on Sunday evening. AB Baskets dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Young Dragons' 32. They outrebounded Young Dragons 43-31 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for center Leonard Hampl (202-1) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Linus Briesemeister (190-3) accounted for 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Torge Buthmann (185-2) came up with 24 points and point guard Fynn Aumann (187-1) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Young Dragons in the defeat. Five AB Baskets and four Young Dragons players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for AB Baskets. They moved-up to fourth place in A North, which they share with Rostock S.J. Young Dragons lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. AB Baskets' next round opponent will be Ruhr (#8) in Essen. Young Dragons will play at home against Rostock S.J. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
