Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Banvit (8-3) edged 9th ranked Arel Univ (3-8) in Bandirma 67-64 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Banvit forced 19 Arel Univ turnovers. Strangely Arel Univ outrebounded Banvit 52-39 including 19 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Banvit made 8 blocks. Forward Boran Guler (196-1) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Onder Atun (192-1) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Banvit's coach used entire bench in such tough game. Dogukan Ayar (-2) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Huseyin Yarisci (-2) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Arel Univ. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Banvit. They moved-up to third place, which they share with TED Ankara. Arel Univ lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Banvit will face Turk Telekom (#4) in Ankara in the next round. Arel Univ will play on the road against Bahcehir (#7) in Acibadem and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
