Regular Season Round 12: KDPU - Niko-Basket 116-89

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-best Niko-Basket's (8-4) road loss to first ranked KDPU (9-1) in Kryvyi Rih 89-116 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 116-89. KDPU dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Niko-Basket's 42. They outrebounded Niko-Basket 39-23 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. KDPU looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Niko-Basket's players. It was a good game for Sergiy Starcev who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 6 assists. The former international center Sergiy Zagreba (214-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Swingman Maksym Ozhegov (190-90) replied with 28 points and 4 steals and Oleksandr Garbar added 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) in the effort for Niko-Basket. Five KDPU and four Niko-Basket players scored in double figures. KDPU have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record, which they share with Rivne. Niko-Basket at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost. KDPU will face Mariupol (#4) at home in the next round.
