Regular Season Round 9: Steaua B. - Sibiu 72-74

A very close game took place in Bucuresti between Sibiu and Steaua B.. Third ranked Sibiu (6-3) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Steaua B. (3-6). Sibiu managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 on Sunday evening. Steaua B. was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 15-9 charge of Sibiu, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American-German forward Isaiah Philmore (203-89, college: Xavier) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Randal Falker (201-85, college: SIU) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Sibiu's coach Dan Fleseriu used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian point guard Strahinja Jovanovic (185-96, agency: BeoExcell) who recorded 22 points and 7 assists and Croatian guard Karlo Vragovic (192-89, agency: BeoExcell) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Sibiu maintains third place in Nationala with 6-3 record having just three points less than leader Cluj Napoca. Loser Steaua B. dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Sibiu will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Steaua B. will play again against Sibiu (#3) and hope to secure a win.
