Regular Season Round 11: Zalgiris II - Marijampoles 93-76

Bottom-ranked Zalgiris II managed to get a second victory. This time they won against ninth-ranked Marijampoles in Kaunas 93-76. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference suggests that Zalgiris II is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Marijampoles. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Zalgiris II's pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-12 extending their advantage to 17 points. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a great evening for swingman Paulius Dembinskas (195-2) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Vytautas Cepas (193-2) helped adding 16 points and 6 assists. Five Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Aleksas Mackevicius (-2) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Mantvydas Kalinauskas (185-3) scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris II (2-8) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Marijampoles. Zalgiris II will play against bottom-ranked Pasvalio (#12) in Pasvalys in the next round. Marijampoles will play at home against Tornado KM and hopes to get back on the winning track.
