Regular Season Round 11: Botas - Urla BLD 84-50

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Adana where 13th ranked Urla BLD (3-9) was crushed by fourteenth ranked Botas (3-8) 84-50 on Friday. Botas held Urla BLD to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Urla BLD 50-27 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Botas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Urla BLD's players. It was a great evening for American center Tearra Banks (188-95, college: Austin Peay) who led her team to a victory scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Zeyno Seren (76-3) helped adding 12 points and 5 assists. Four Botas players scored in double figures. Botas' coach Cemal Gozeneli felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Dilek Mert (182-83) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and forward Belgin Onbasi (177-82) scored 17 points and 6 assists. Botas moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Yalova Vip and Fenerbahce G. Urla BLD lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. Botas will face higher ranked Bosna 34 (#9) in Yenibosna in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Urla BLD will play at home against Edremit (#10) and hope to win that game.
