Regular Season Round 13: Bamberg - TSV Troester 72-74

A very close game took place in Bamberg between TSV Troester and Bamberg. Third ranked TSV Troester (9-4) got a very close victory on the road over their biggest opponent Bamberg (8-4). TSV Troester managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 in the fight for the second place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Bamberg. It was a key game for the second position in South-East. TSV Troester dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Bamberg's 22. TSV Troester forced 21 Bamberg turnovers and outrebounded them 32-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. Guard Joerg Dippold (195-92) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and center Erik Land (205-90) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. TSV Troester's coach used entire bench in such tough game. At the losing side guard Steffen Walde (190-92) responded with 29 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and French center Andy Rico (198-91) scored 10 points. Four Bamberg players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for TSV Troester. They moved-up to second place in South-East. Loser Bamberg dropped to the third position with four games lost. TSV Troester will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bamberg will play against the league's leader Ansbach and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
