Very important is a road loss of third ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (5-3) against fifth ranked TG Neuss (6-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Rotenburg/Scheessel was defeated by TG Neuss in Neuss 83-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rotenburg/Scheessel. TG Neuss made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard Briana Williams (170-92, college: Mercer) who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Franziska Worthmann (178-86, college: RMU) helped adding 22 points and 5 steals. Four TG Neuss players scored in double figures. TG Neuss' coach John Bruhnke used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Pia Mankertz (170-90) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Mirja Beckmann (187-97) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for TG Neuss. They moved-up to third place in North. Loser Rotenburg/Scheessel dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. TG Neuss will meet at home ChemCats Chemnitz (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rotenburg/Scheessel will have a break next round.
