Regular Season Round 8: Odessa - Prometey 81-79

The biggest surprise took place in Odessa where host Odessa (7-6) edged league's leader Prometey (10-3) 81-79 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Prometey won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was swingman Denis Noskov (202-90) who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Rhamel Brown (201-92, college: Manhattan) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four Odessa players scored in double figures. American point guard Randy Culpepper (183-89, college: UTEP, agency: Inception Sports) produced 24 points and his fellow American import forward Mike Myers (206-92, college: UMES, agency: Network Sports International) added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Odessa have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Prometey dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Dnipro. Prometey will play next round against Kyiv Basket trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Odessa will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Mykolaiv on the road.
