Regular Season Round 11: Balkan - Academic 101-78

Leader Balkan delivered the tenth win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Academic (5-6) 101-78 in Botevgrad. Balkan looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Kenny Hall (206-90, college: Tennessee) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. International Dimitar Dimitrov (203-93) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Balkan players scored in double figures. International power forward Tsvetomir Chernokojev (206-0) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and forward Nikolay Nikolov (196-94) added 15 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Balkan (10-1) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place, which they share with Levski Lukoil. Academic at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Balkan is looking forward to face Cherno More (#7) in Varna in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Academic will play at home against Rilski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
